Seamless Microsoft Office 365 integration enables improved productivity and security when working with documents across applications and devices

NetDocuments, a leading native cloud-based document and email management service for law firms and corporate legal departments, today announced the support and integration of Microsoft Office 365 with NetDocuments' cloud-based document and email management service, enabling the DMS functionality of opening, editing, creating, and searching within the native Microsoft Office 365 applications across desktops and mobile devices. The integration incorporates NetDocuments' security and information governance initiatives by keeping content centralized in the firm-wide DMS while securely interacting with Office 365, improving end-users' ability to interact with and create content regardless of location or device.

The Office 365 for NetDocuments integration is one of several NetDocuments initiatives supporting a cloud-first approach and commitment to delivering a user-focused and purpose-built document and email management platform designed specifically for the legal and corporate legal market. "The technology that firms need to meet client-driven demands for security and productivity should also empower individuals to work where, how, and on whatever device they want while remaining secure and compliant," Matt Duncan, NetDocuments CEO stated. "The Office 365 for NetDocuments integration takes the power and security of a purpose-built enterprise DMS for legal, and presents it to the end user as an intuitive and invisible DMS. '

"The integration between Microsoft and NetDocuments cloud technologies will help make secure document management seamless to our joint users," stated Rob Howard, Director, Office 365 Ecosystem, Microsoft.

According to Mike Green, CIO at Nixon Peabody LLP, NetDocuments for Office 365 gives the firm tremendous flexibility in securely working with mobile devices. "We have hundreds of attorneys using iOS devices and figuring out ways to work on these devices without properly securing documents. By giving our users NetDocuments for Office 365 accounts, they can still work on an iOS device, but in a supported and secure way."

The integration is available to all NetDocuments customer firms. Key functionalities of the integration will allow individuals to:

  • Work within Office applications from any browser and any device, including the ability to open, edit, and create from any iOS device;
  • Collaborate with real-time co-authoring and editing capabilities, eliminating the need to check documents in and out;
  • Enjoy a consistent interface regardless of location or device;

Benefit from improved security and compliance by keeping documents within the DMS throughout the interaction with Microsoft Office 365 application.
