NetDocuments Women Leaders (Re)warded for Creativity, Innovation and Engagement

12/5/2020

Last month, Utah Business Magazine recognized leaders in Human Resources (HR) across the state “as they innovate and elevate the human experience factor for the companies they serve.” The prestigious ‘HR Professional of the Year’ honor was awarded to 11 Utah-based professionals including Claudia Reese, NetDocuments’ Senior Director of Human Resources. Claudia joined NetDocuments in 2/2019 bringing with her, not only unmatched enthusiasm for all things HR, but creativity and innovative thinking focused on increasing employee engagement and the overall employee experience. Her creativity has especially been put to the test in recent months with COVID-19 forcing work-from-home scenarios for virtually all NetDocuments staff. Managing this major change has given Claudia newfound clarity about the power of communication and how being physically apart has led to new ways of interacting and engaging with employees.

Beyond her place on the leadership team leading company HR activities, Claudia is involved with regional women in leadership focused initiatives including Women Tech Council’s SheTech program, the largest industry-led science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) program to activate, engage, and inspire high school girls into such degrees and successful careers. In addition, Claudia is active with the Women’s Leadership Institute which engages Utah business leaders to help elevate the stature of women in business and board rooms through its annual ElevateHER Challenge.

This May, another NetDocuments team member was honored by Utah Business Magazine. Liz Benegas, NetDocuments’ General Counsel, was named ‘Legal Professional of the Year’ recognizing the leadership, innovation, and responsiveness she brings to the rapidly growing company.

Liz joined NetDocuments in 2018 as its first in-house attorney, tasked with building a legal function from the ground up. According to Liz, as the first counsel inside the company, there was no precedent for how to participate in existing processes. “There was nobody to teach me how to do my job, so I started with the absolute basics—understanding the company, its history, its employees, services, and customers. I listened to product demos so I could hear the questions our customers ask. I read the company’s policies and security audits and studied our service architecture until I knew every step our product takes as it passes information from our servers to a user’s workstation. I asked a lot of questions of my colleagues, many of them repeatedly, until I really understood as much as I could about the needs of the company. And then I turned to the task of building a legal team that could support this complex and fast-paced business.”

To learn more about Liz’ approach to building NetDocuments’ first legal team, you can listen to her recent podcast with the CEO of PactSafe, a contract acceptance platform.

In addition to her ‘day job’, Liz is active in the business community and was recently named co-chair of the Women in Leadership Chapter for Silicon Slopes, focused on strengthening the impact of women at all levels of leadership.

Claudia and Liz are just two examples of NetDocuments employees going above and beyond to impact not only their workplace but make a difference in their community. Anyone interested in potential career opportunities with NetDocuments, can find more information on our careers page.
